David DesRochers gave a very informative talk on the Art of Landscape Photography, a mixture of helpful tips and beautiful images. He emphasized the need to plan ahead as there is a short window of ideal lighting generally around sunrise and sunset. Look for locations and perspectives ahead of time by searching websites or exploring during the day. It's ok to take the iconic shot but also start wide angle and then zoom in for more unique viewpoints. Try polarizing or neutral density filters and vertical and horizontal layouts. Remember to look in all directions. Having a person in the image can add a sense of scale. A beautiful scene does not always mean a beautiful photo, you need to work to get the perfect shot.
