Jacki Dickert showcased her wonderful photographic talent while discussing the concept of edges as a way to see opportunities for photographs. Edges generally have contrast and drama which naturally draws your eyes to the subject. Edges can catch light and bring out texture in an image. Remember to move your feet and reposition to capture the best edge view. Physical and geographical edges may be most obvious but consider something like the focal plane where part of the image is in focus vs part blurred. Extend your thinking to temporal edges like capturing fall leaves or budding flowers in the snow. Meteorological is another possibility such as the edge of day like twilight and the Belt of Venus. Emotional and psychological edges may be harder to imagine but try making images based on feeling, not just thinking.
